The Deader You Get

Posted by Zach On March - 24 - 2012

IT’S FINALLY HERE! About six months ago, while derping around the basement of the old “studio,” someone tossed out an idea that made everyone laugh harder than we had in quite some time. I’m proud to say that it has finally become a reality and I can share it with you, the fans.

THE DEADER YOU GET is my second attempt at a Zombie movie. My first one, THE CLARKSON GENE, went horribly wrong on us when our director refused to write a script and instead wanted to shoot nothing but Z’s wandering around the streets of Potsdam. When we had the idea for this one, I grumbled and griped because I didn’t know if I could go back to a topic that caused so much turmoil previously. But as the script got farther and farther and we started to nail down actors, I felt confident that a Left 4 Dead parody could possibly work, provided we stuck to our strengths and made it a comedy. Frankly, I think it came out hysterically. I’ve watched it more times now than I care to count and I still laugh every time.

There are a lot of subtleties to note, especially in the development of props. I’m particularly fond of the med-kits and the safe-house door. I also have to say thank you to my younger brother who has a veritable ARSENAL of prop weapons that he graciously allowed us to use on this sketch. I also think that Chris did a fantastic job at capturing the essence of zombie movie stereotypes for all of our characters. It was also a great decision to contact our friend, Uzi, to do makeup. Although it took quite a while, the effect was well worth the time. Lastly, we couldn’t have done this without the help of our zombie extras. Thanks to all of you for being generally awesome! Now, without any more ado whatsoever: THE DEADER YOU GET.
