Ladies and gentlemen the triumphant return of FAUNTLEBOTTOM! We knew when we started that Fauntlebottom would be one of our flagship characters. Whenever we don’t have a script, you’ll see us toss Paul into another uncomfortable situation. This time, please also welcome back our resident “sketch-saver,” Isaac!
This sketch was shot at the same time as “H4CK3R5″ because we only had Isaac for one day. We were preparing our costume supply for the move to Boston and Isaac thought that an overcoat was a perfect garment for someone involved in torture. From there, the sketch sort of happened organically. The twins’ parents’ basement (aka, our old studio) is literally FILLED with implements of destruction which we used to brilliant amusement.
This sketch was straight up fun too. Aside from the usual amusement we get from putting Paul in that stupid tweed jacket, we also got to rub soot all over him and spray him with enough hairspray to satisfy Gene Simmons for an entire tour. By the time we were done, I thought that he (and probably Anne and I as well) was going to spontaneously combust. The film is, yes, intentionally grainy. I shoot Fauntlebottom sketches with a VERY crappy camera to get that old-school, sort of look to them. I’m a huge fan of analog effects and I try to use them every chance I get. Unfortunately, I had to return the “Fauntlebottom camera” to its owner so I may have to do the next one in post. We shall see. For now, join us as we examine how NOT to resist interrogation.
