Reviews

Posted by Zach On July - 25 - 2011

We here at Another Let Down feel as though it is important to stay on top of current film and television releases if we are to become better filmmakers ourselves. That said, we have opted to take turns attending (although often together) the latest cinematic releases. We try to be as unbiased as possible when we review a film which is part of the reason we take turns with it but it doesn’t always work out resulting in our reviews being frequently filled with cynicism. But we aren’t going to stop at filmmaking. Oh no. We’re going to be reviewing other sites, games, ideas, even hardware we might try out on our computers! We’re jacks of all trades and masters of none and here’s where we flaunt it!

14 May 2013 “Iron Man III” – Jon takes a closer look at the latest Avengers installment.

12 Mar. 2013 “Justice League Rumor #547″ – Jon examines one of the most hyped up rumours surrounding the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie.

26 Feb. 2013 “Underrated Comic Book Movies” – Jon takes a pause for a moment to determine whether or not some of the more maligned comic book films are REALLY that bad.

18 Dec. 2012 “Back to Middle Earth” – We return to New Zealand for another adventure with Peter Jackson in ‘The Hobbit’

13 Nov. 2012 “No Chicken Little” – The sky may be falling but James Bond’s latest sure isn’t!

21 Aug. 2012 “The Expendables II” – A few small changes from the first and Expendables 2 seems okay.

24 July 2012 “Rise of the Bat” – Jon finds a way to put into words how we all feel at the conclusion of Chris Nolan’s Batman saga.

9 July 2012 “Spider-Man: Enjoyed!” – Jon breaks down The Amazing Spider-Man and finds it more than makes up for emo-Pete.

12 June 2012 “If It Ain’t Broke” – J and K set off on another adventure for the Men In Black. This time, they don’t disappoint.

17 May 2012 “Netflix: Declassified – The Dresden Files” – Paul takes a look at another Netflix favourite.

12 May 2012 “Whedon Gets His Win” – Zach, Kyle, Brett, and Casey totally lose their minds while watching “The Avengers” and illustrate just how dorky comic book nerds can get.

22 Mar. 2012 “The Odds Are In The Hunger Games’ Favor” – Paul is pleased with a press-screening of “The Hunger Games,” despite the fact that he is decidedly NOT a 12 year old girl.

11 Mar. 2012 “Netflix: Declassified – Farscape” – The first in an ongoing series of reviews of the GOOD stuff on Netflix. This month, Paul takes a look at a classic staple of Science Fiction history.

6 Mar. 2012 “My Little Irony” – Bronies are taking over nerd culture. Is it an ironic hipster move or is My Little Pony REALLY that good?

21 Feb. 2012 “Soul On Fire” – Zach was pleasantly surprised by Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Not great, but not a waste of 90 mins.

26 Jan. 2012 “Wake Up and Smell the Action” – Underworld, taken as it is, was a fun film if not for the 3D.

10 Jan. 2012 “Joyeux Anniversaire, Tintin” – Although enjoyable, “The Adventures of Tintin” went down with the Unicorn.

27 Dec. 2011 “And Don’t Call Me Shirley” – Paul takes a shot at identifying the murderer of Sherlock Holmes 2.

30 Nov. 2011 “The Most Sensational” – The Muppets was fantastic. Sensational even! Just don’t anger the old guys in the balcony…

30 Sep. 2011 “First Class Film” – Paul points out the merits of the best Superhero film of the summer

28 Sep. 2011 “Who Green Lit the Green Lantern” – Ryan Reynolds rips himself a new a$$hole. Chris just explains why.

13 Sep. 2011 “Who Do You Voodoo” – Zach looks at modern vampire movies and explains that indeed there is still some good to come of them…

16 Aug. 2011 “Cowboys And Aliens” – Chris takes a close look at a concept that seemed really cool until James Bond got involved.

25 Aug. 2011 “Fifty Word Stories” – Tim Sevenhuysen puts forth an amazing site for quick bursts of creative energy very fitting in today’s society.
